HangarGrid — Your Aircraft. Your Records. Your Control.
Effective Date: 29 October 2026
Last Updated: 1 November 2026
Website: https://hangargrid.com
1. Introduction
Welcome to HangarGrid.
HangarGrid is an independently developed digital platform created as a personal initiative to help radio-controlled (RC) aircraft enthusiasts organize, manage, and maintain records of their aircraft throughout their ownership lifecycle.
The platform supports aircraft inventory management, build tracking, equipment configurations, maintenance histories, flight logging, weather and field-day planning, reminders, a wishlist, a marketplace, and messaging between pilots.
We recognize that your personal information, aircraft records, flight histories, photographs, and equipment details deserve appropriate protection.
This Privacy Policy explains what information HangarGrid collects, how it is used, when it may be shared, how it is protected, and the choices and rights available to you.
Our approach is guided by three principles:
- Purpose: We collect and use personal information for defined, legitimate purposes.
- Transparency: We explain how your information is processed and shared.
- Control: We respect your applicable rights to access, correct, export, and delete information.
This Privacy Policy applies to the HangarGrid website, applications, and associated services (collectively, the "Services").
Where applicable law requires consent for particular processing activities, we will request that consent through an appropriate mechanism.
2. Who Operates HangarGrid
HangarGrid is currently a personal initiative independently developed and operated by Karan Dubey, an individual based in India.
HangarGrid has not been incorporated as a company or established as a separate legal entity.
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, references to "HangarGrid," "we," "our," and "us" refer to the individual responsible for operating the platform.
The individual operating HangarGrid acts as the data controller or data fiduciary, where applicable, in respect of personal information processed through the Services.
Responsible Individual: Karan Dubey
Country of Operation: India
Privacy Contact: compliance@hangargrid.com
General Correspondence: hey@hangargrid.com
Website: https://hangargrid.com
Any subsequent establishment of a legal entity to operate HangarGrid will be reflected in this Privacy Policy and related legal documents. Users will receive additional notice where required by applicable law.
3. Scope of This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processed when you:
- Visit the HangarGrid website, including the demo hangar.
- Register or manage an account.
- Create or manage aircraft records.
- Record equipment details, builds, and modifications.
- Maintain aircraft service and maintenance histories.

- Share passports, list items on the marketplace, message other pilots, or invite pilots.
- Use weather, flying-field, and reminder features.
- Contact HangarGrid for support.
- Subscribe to communications or paid services, if offered.
This Privacy Policy does not govern independent third-party websites or services that HangarGrid does not control.
4. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly, information generated through your use of the Services, and limited technical information necessary for operation, security, and functionality.
4.1 Account Information
When registering or using an account, we may process:
- Name, display name, and handle.
- Email address.
- Your sign-in method: Google, a one-time code sent to your email, or a password.
- Country, city, home flying field, and when you started flying, if provided.
- Profile photograph, if uploaded.
- Account preferences and communication settings, such as message email alerts and weather units.
If you choose "Continue with Google", we receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier from Google.
Your display name and handle are shown to other pilots on passports you share, on your marketplace listings, and in messages. Your email address is never shown to other pilots.
We do not require users to provide information unrelated to the features they choose to use.
4.2 Aircraft and Equipment Information
You may voluntarily provide information relating to aircraft and associated equipment, including:
- Aircraft manufacturer, model, category, and specifications.
- Aircraft ownership, lifecycle stage, flight readiness, and condition.
- Build details, build plans, parts to buy, and assembly progress.
- Engines, motors, propellers, and power systems.
- Transmitters, receivers, servos, batteries, and electronic equipment.
- Component specifications, configurations, and serial numbers.
- Equipment installation and replacement history.
- Purchase, cost, and warranty details.
- Maintenance, repair, modification, inspection, and incident records.
- Photographs, manuals, receipts, and other uploaded documents.
Such records may contain personal information when they identify or can be associated with an individual.
4.3 Flight and Operational Records
Information may include:
- Flight dates and durations.
- Aircraft flown and number of flights.
- Flying locations or fields, if provided.
- Battery health and charging records.
- Pre-flight checklists and pre-maiden checks.
- Maintenance actions, groundings, clearances, and technical issues.
- Flight incidents and associated notes.
- Other records voluntarily entered by users.
You can set a flying field by searching for a place, placing a pin on a map, or — optionally, with your browser's permission — using your device's current location once. HangarGrid does not track your location continuously.
4.4 Uploaded Files and Media
You may upload photographs, documents, and other supported files.
Photographs are resized and re-encoded in your browser before upload, which removes embedded location (EXIF/GPS) data. PDFs and other documents are stored as uploaded and may still contain information such as names or transaction details.
You should avoid uploading unnecessary personal information, especially information relating to other individuals.
4.5 Technical and Usage Information
When you use HangarGrid, the following may be processed automatically:
- Your IP address and browser details, stored with each signed-in session for the life of that session (30 days).
- Request logs kept by our hosting provider, which include IP addresses, for security and operation.
- Error reports and performance diagnostics.
- Anonymous counts of home-page visits, sign-up button clicks, demo-hangar visits, and shared-passport views. These records contain only the event, the button, the page path, and the time — no account, IP address, cookie, or device identifier.
We do not collect device or advertising identifiers.
4.6 Support and Communications
When you contact us, we may process your name, contact details, correspondence, and information necessary to investigate and respond to your request.
4.7 Payment and Subscription Information
HangarGrid does not currently offer paid services or process payments. Marketplace purchases are arranged directly between pilots; HangarGrid does not handle the payment.
If paid functionality becomes available, we will disclose the payment providers used and their relevant privacy practices before collecting payment information.
5. How We Use Your Information
We process personal information for defined purposes, including:
Account Administration: Creating, authenticating, maintaining, and securing user accounts.
Aircraft Management: Organizing aircraft inventories, configurations, build plans, and associated records.
Flight Logging: Recording flights and generating flight-history and operational summaries.
Maintenance and Readiness: Maintaining service histories, flight readiness, inspections, and maintenance reminders.
Weather and Planning: Showing forecasts and air quality for your flying fields and flagging good flying days.
Community Features: Showing passports you share, delivering marketplace listings and messages between pilots, and invitations you send.
Service Delivery: Saving, retrieving, displaying, and synchronizing records.
Support: Responding to inquiries, complaints, technical requests, and user feedback.
Security and Moderation: Investigating suspected unauthorized activity, abuse, reported content, and security incidents.
Platform Improvement: Diagnosing problems, evaluating performance, and understanding anonymous visit counts.
Communications: Sending sign-in codes, verification and password-reset emails, deletion codes, and alerts for new messages.
Legal Compliance: Meeting applicable legal obligations and responding to valid lawful requests.
We will not process personal information for materially unrelated purposes without an applicable legal basis and any additional notice or consent required by law.
6. Lawful Basis for Processing
Where applicable legislation requires a legal basis, including the EU or UK GDPR, processing may rely on:
| Processing purpose | Applicable legal basis |
|---|---|
| Account creation and authentication | Performance of a contract |
| Aircraft, build, maintenance, and flight-record management | Performance of a contract |
| Sharing, marketplace, and messaging features you use | Performance of a contract |
| Essential platform operation | Performance of a contract |
| Security, moderation, and fraud prevention | Legitimate interests or legal obligations |
| Customer support | Contractual necessity or legitimate interests |
| Anonymous visit and click counts (no identifiers) | Legitimate interests |
| Optional marketing, if introduced | Consent or another basis permitted by applicable law |
| Regulatory compliance | Legal obligation |
Where legitimate interests are relied upon, we assess the necessity of processing and its effect on individuals' rights and interests.
For individuals covered by India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, processing will be carried out using the lawful grounds permitted by that legislation, as and when applicable.
Consent, where required, may be withdrawn in accordance with applicable law.
7. Privacy of Your Aircraft and Flight Records
Your hangar is private by default. Aircraft, flights, maintenance, photos, and documents are visible only to you unless you deliberately share them using one of these features:
- Public passport: you can publish an aircraft's passport at a link or QR code, and choose field by field what it shows. Unpublishing stops the link working.
- Marketplace listing: a listing you create is visible to other signed-in pilots, with your display name, the location you enter, and — if you attach the aircraft — its condition, hours, and cost history.
- Messages: pilots you message see your display name and what you write, never your email address.
- Invitations: links you share to invite other pilots.
- Blog likes and comments: when you like or comment on a blog post, your comment, display name, and profile photo are public, and you get a public pilot page showing your name, handle, photo, country, when you started flying, and what you have written on the blog. Pilots who never like or comment have no public page.
Access may also be necessary for authorized technical operations, security, service delivery, moderation, or legal obligations.
Information that you deliberately make public may be copied or retained by other individuals. Removing it from HangarGrid may not remove copies retained outside the platform.
8. Ownership and Use of User Content
You retain the intellectual property rights and other legal rights that you hold in photographs, documents, notes, aircraft records, and other content you submit to HangarGrid.
Uploading content does not transfer ownership of that content to HangarGrid.
To operate the Services, HangarGrid requires limited permission to host, store, reproduce, process, back up, transmit, and display uploaded content as necessary to deliver the features you request.
The detailed scope of this permission, including its duration and termination, is governed by the Terms of Service.
HangarGrid does not acquire ownership rights in your aircraft, physical equipment, or intellectual property solely because you record information about them on the platform.
Facts, measurements, and technical specifications may not independently attract exclusive intellectual property rights. Applicable legal rights remain subject to relevant law.
9. Flying Locations and Location Privacy
Flight logs, flying fields, and uploaded content may contain location-related information.
We recognize that certain locations, including private flying sites, personal workshops, and club facilities, may be sensitive.
- You choose whether to enter a flying field or flight location, and you may omit it.
- Your device's location is used only when you choose "use my location" for a field, with your browser's permission.
- To show weather and maps, your field's coordinates (or the place you search for) are sent to the weather, place-search, and map providers listed in section 11.1.
- Public passports show a home field only if you choose to make that field public.
- Photographs have location metadata removed before upload.
Users should avoid publicly sharing private flying locations without authorization.
10. Information Relating to Other Individuals
Users may upload records or photographs containing information about other people, including fellow pilots, club members, aircraft owners, or event participants.
Users should only submit such information where they have an appropriate legal basis or authorization.
Where required, users should obtain the relevant individual's consent before uploading or publicly sharing personal information.
Marketplace listings and other pilots can be reported from within HangarGrid. HangarGrid may remove or restrict access to material where necessary to address privacy complaints, legal obligations, or violations of its Terms of Service.
Individuals who believe their personal information has been uploaded improperly may contact us using the privacy contact details provided in this Policy.
11. Sharing of Personal Information
We do not sell private aircraft records, identifiable flight histories, or personal information to data brokers or unrelated commercial parties.
We may disclose personal information in the following circumstances.
11.1 Service Providers
We use these providers to run HangarGrid. Each processes information only as needed for its role:
| Provider | Role | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel | Website hosting (application servers in Singapore) | All requests to the site, including IP addresses in its logs |
| Neon | Cloud PostgreSQL database (Singapore) | Account data, records, and uploaded files |
| "Continue with Google" sign-in, only when offered | Your sign-in with Google | |
| Resend | Sending emails (servers in Japan) | Your email address and the email content |
| Open-Meteo | Weather forecasts and air quality | Field coordinates and your IP address |
| Photon (Komoot) and Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) | Place search for flying fields | What you search for, coordinates, and your IP address |
| OpenStreetMap and Esri | Map tiles | Your IP address and the map area viewed |
11.2 Sharing Initiated by Users
We disclose the information you choose to share through public passports, marketplace listings, messages, and invitations, as described in section 7.
11.3 Legal Obligations
Information may be disclosed where required by applicable law, a valid court order, lawful regulatory process, or another legally binding obligation.
11.4 Security and Protection
Information may be shared where legally permitted and reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, security incidents, or unlawful activity.
11.5 Future Business Restructuring
If HangarGrid is subsequently incorporated, transferred, merged, acquired, or reorganized, relevant information may be transferred where legally permitted and subject to applicable safeguards, notices, and consent requirements.
We will not treat a future change in legal structure as an unrestricted authorization to use personal information for unrelated purposes.
12. Aggregated and Anonymized Information
We may generate statistical information from platform activity to understand usage patterns, improve performance, and support product development.
Where information has been effectively anonymized so that individuals are no longer identifiable by reasonably available means, it may fall outside certain personal data protection requirements.
Aggregated information will not be treated as anonymous merely because names or direct identifiers have been removed.
We will consider the risk of re-identification, particularly where information includes unusual aircraft configurations, small user groups, precise locations, or other identifying characteristics.
We will not represent identifiable user information as anonymous.
13. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Processing
HangarGrid does not currently use artificial intelligence services to process your records. Readiness, condition scores, and reminders are calculated by fixed rules within HangarGrid.
If optional AI-powered features are introduced, we will explain the processing, the providers involved, and your choices before they are used.
We will not provide private user content to third-party AI model providers for their independent model training without an appropriate legal basis and any required notice or consent.
Where applicable law provides rights relating to automated decisions having legal or similarly significant effects, those rights will be respected.
14. Data Storage and International Transfers
HangarGrid's application servers run in Singapore, and your records are stored with our cloud database provider. The service providers in section 11.1 may process information in other countries, including the United States and member states of the European Union.
This means your information is processed outside India and may be processed outside your country of residence. We do not claim that information remains within India.
Where applicable law restricts international transfers, we will apply appropriate safeguards, including recognized contractual protections or other lawful transfer mechanisms. We will comply with applicable Indian restrictions on transferring personal information outside India.
15. Information Security
We take reasonable and appropriate steps to safeguard personal information and aircraft records against unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, disclosure, and loss. These include:
- Sign-in with Google, one-time email codes, or hashed passwords.
- Server-side checks that every record and uploaded file belongs to the signed-in pilot before it is saved or shown.
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS).
- Restricted administrative access.
- Hosting and database providers' own security and backup arrangements.
No internet-based system is entirely free from security risks.
Users should protect their login credentials and notify HangarGrid promptly if they suspect unauthorized account access.
If a personal data breach occurs, we will take appropriate containment and remedial action and provide notifications to individuals or authorities as required by applicable law.
16. Data Retention
- Your account and records are kept while your account exists.
- Signed-in sessions, with their IP address and browser details, last up to 30 days.
- Anonymous visit counts are kept to measure how the site is used.
- When you delete your account, your aircraft, passports, records, photos, documents, listings, messages, and reminders are removed in a single step. Catalogue entries you contributed stay available to other pilots, with your name removed.
- Deleted information may remain in our database provider's point-in-time backups for a limited period (currently up to 7 days) until those backups are overwritten.
Where applicable law requires particular retention periods, those requirements will take precedence.
17. Account Deletion and Data Export
You can export and delete your data yourself from Settings:
- Export: download all your records as a file, and your flights and maintenance as spreadsheets (CSV).
- Delete account: permanently deletes your account and everything in it. You confirm with your password, or — if you sign in with Google or an emailed code — with a code we email to you.
Requests may also be submitted to compliance@hangargrid.com. Before acting on a request, we may take reasonable steps to verify the requester's identity and authority.
We recommend retaining copies of important aircraft and maintenance information independently of any single online platform.
18. Privacy Rights
Depending on applicable law, users may have rights to:
- Access personal information held about them.
- Obtain information about relevant processing activities.
- Correct or update inaccurate personal information.
- Request deletion of eligible information.
- Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Receive portable copies of eligible information.
- Opt out of specified advertising, marketing, or data-sharing activities.
- Submit privacy-related complaints.
- Exercise additional rights provided by relevant laws.
Some rights are subject to exceptions, verification requirements, or legally permitted limitations.
We will not discriminate against users for exercising privacy rights where such discrimination is prohibited by law.
To exercise your rights, contact compliance@hangargrid.com. Requests will be handled within applicable statutory deadlines.
19. Cookies and Similar Technologies
HangarGrid uses only cookies that are essential to run the site:
- Sign-in session cookie: keeps you signed in, for up to 30 days.
- Site-access cookie: used only on test versions of the site that are password-protected.
We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies, so no cookie consent banner is shown.
Your browser also stores, on your device: drafts of forms you haven't saved yet (cleared when you sign out), cached weather, tour progress, and display preferences such as the sidebar layout.
If non-essential cookies or tracking technologies are ever introduced, they will not be activated until any required consent has been obtained.
20. Communications
HangarGrid sends emails needed to use the Services: sign-in codes, email verification, password resets, account-deletion codes, and alerts when another pilot messages you. You can turn message alerts off in Settings.
Reminders and fly-day alerts appear inside HangarGrid and, if you allow it, as browser notifications. They are not sent by email.
HangarGrid does not currently send marketing emails. If it does in future, it will ask for consent where required and include a way to unsubscribe.
21. Children's Privacy
HangarGrid is intended for users aged 18 years and above.
Individuals under 18 should not independently register for or use the Services.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from individuals under 18 through unauthorized accounts.
If we discover that an account belongs to an individual who does not meet the applicable age requirements, we may suspend the account and take appropriate steps to restrict or delete associated information.
A parent or legal guardian who believes a minor has provided personal information may contact compliance@hangargrid.com to request appropriate action.
22. Third-Party Websites and Integrations
The Services may contain links to aircraft manufacturers, equipment suppliers, hobby communities, video platforms, or other external websites, including product links you add to your wishlist.
Third-party websites operate independently and follow their own privacy policies. The providers HangarGrid relies on are listed in section 11.1.
We are not responsible for the independent processing practices of external services that we do not control.
